Frequently Asked Questions about Unlimited Accounts

How exactly do unlimited accounts work?

When you purchase an unlimited account, you are allocated one or more IP addresses that designate access from your school. Students will be able to log in as often as they want from those IP addresses over the course of the year. In addition, 10 additional logins per student are made available to you that can be used from home, so ExamBank can continue to be used by your students in the environment that is best for them.

An unlimited account, like a standard account, will give you access to all resources on ExamBank. You do not need to purchase different accounts for different grades or subject levels - you can use a single account for everything.

Will the additional "home use" logins be enough?
These additional logins are pooled together so that some students can use more and others less. With over a decade of experience in running ExamBank, this "home use" pool should be substantially more than adequate, especially considering that access from school IP addresses aren't counted against these logins at all. It is only intended to prevent abuse of your account being used by students not attending your school if your username and password should become public knowledge. If for some reason you find the additional 10 logins per student isn't enough, just let us know - we'll sort something out. This type of ExamBank account is intended to be unlimited, after all.

At the end of the year for which the unlimited account is valid, access is discontinued, and any remaining logins from home are discarded.

What is considered to be the yearly term?

This is simply 365 days from the time the account is created, or in the case of renewals, 365 days from the time your current unlimited account expires - it is not linked to a specific school or calendar year. As a result, there is no need to ensure that unlimited accounts are created at the beginning of September to get the maximum value - it will simply operate for a year after it is purchased.

How is the number of students designated?

The cost of an unlimited account is based on the total number of students enrolled in your school from Grades 3 to 12 at the time the account is created. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 2 can use unlimited ExamBank accounts for free! If your enrollment changes throughout the year, this has no bearing on the cost of an account.

If you are setting up or renewing an unlimited account over the summer or such time when accurate enrollment numbers are not yet available, we ask that you base the number of students on what your last enrollment was (at the end of June during the previous school year).

What if we have less than 100 students?

First, keep in mind that the total enrollment for your school from Grades 3 to 12 is to be considered. But even if you still have less, we consider 100 students to be the minimum to qualify for an unlimited account. Of course, you can still set up an unlimited account for 100 students at $3.00 each for a total of $300 if you wish, even if you have less students than this. Or you may want to investigate our standard account pricing options as an alternative.

 How are account renewals handled?

At any time, you may wish to extend your unlimited account, even before your current unlimited account expires. This just adds an additional year on to the end of your current term, and provides an additional 10 logins per student to be used from home for the duration of the additional term. In this way, you can ensure that your account is always active, without having to wait until the last minute to renew.

What if we have an existing standard account?

Credits in standard accounts do not expire, and they continue to be available in unlimited accounts for use from home. The way exam accounting works is as follows. First, if a student is accessing an exam from one of the predesignated school IP addresses while an unlimited account is active, it will not take any logins away from the pool available to the account. If the student is accessing the account outside of the school, it will take logins away from the batch of 10 logins per student originally provided that expire first. When there are no remaining expiring logins available, it will take logins from those which do not expire, created from a standard account.

If you have a substantial number of logins remaining in a standard account and would like to consider switching to an unlimited account, let us know. Depending on the situation, we may be able to credit you the value of some or all of your unused logins towards the purchase of your unlimited account.
